Higher Ground Living

Psalm 61:2 says, "...I call to you when I begin to lose heart. Lead me to the rock that is high above me."

Here on the East Coast, we experienced the fury of Hurricane Irene. While the storm thankfully lost some of its steam, the pounding rains and high winds brought down many trees, left 100's of thousands without power (including our church), and has caused much damage.

On the heals of a 6.0 Earthquake that shook the security out of our region, this hurricane pushed many to the curb of anxiety. One of our neighbors confessed she was unable to sleep for 2 nights due to overwhelming worry.

The Psalmist, King David, who penned the above words was well acquainted with troubles. He knew what is was to:
- be ripped away from one's family
- have the king of your nation try to kill you with spears
- be the object of a man-hunt, hiding in caves for safety
- having one of your sons kill another, because King David never addressed an incestuous rape
- fighting against your own son, who is trying to kill you & take you kingdom.
... And we think a little water in the basement is tragedy...

It was though all this turmoil he learned to trust in God. Higher Ground living, allows PEACE to guard your heart & mind because we know and believe that God is in control. The song below by Andrae Crouch explains this verse perfectly. Enjoy, and let it minister to your spirit.

Young Eyes Of Faith

Everyone in the Northeast felt the effects of a late summer downpour. Between the inches of rain, high winds and lightening... many locations were flooded, had streets closed, and trees down.

My wife and I were driving in the rain with our 4 year old in the back seat, she suddenly had an epiphany. "You know...(long pause) I think it is raining because God is sweating, 'cause its so hot outside." My wife and I cracked up (silently of course).

At 4 years of age, my daughter instinctively knows that God is involved in our daily lives. Young eyes see things our old eyes miss. The possibilities, explanations and perspective is all NEW. Many experience this when they first receive Christ in Salvation. "All things become New!" THESE ARE THE EYES OF FAITH!!!

Whatever you are facing today, what you SEE depends on LENSES you use. Just like with glasses, our spiritual lenses sometimes needed refitted so that we can begin to see with young eyes of Faith once again.
